How CutWize Works
A simple, logical workflow designed for real workshops. Go from list to finished product in minutes with automatic optimisation.
Create a Profile
Everything starts with a Profile. This represents a specific material type—like "40mm Aluminum Angle" or "18mm Plywood". Here you define the critical parameters that make the math work: blade thickness (kerf) to account for material lost during cutting, standard stock lengths you buy from suppliers, and waste thresholds to decide what counts as a usable offcut versus scrap.
Once set up, you can reuse this profile for every future job using this material. See all features.
Add Your Stock
Before you cut, you need to know what you have. Enter your inventory into the system. You can add "Full Length" bars that come fresh from your supplier, or "Offcuts" that you have saved from previous jobs.
CutWize treats these differently: it will always try to use your existing offcuts first to clear space in your workshop before telling you to cut into a fresh, expensive full-length bar.
Enter Required Cuts
Now, tell CutWize what you need to build. Input your cut list by adding the length and quantity for each piece. You can assign a "Job Name" or reference number to keep track of which pieces belong to which project.
Need a specific piece to come from a specific bar? You can even "Pin" a cut to a specific stock item manually if you have special requirements like grain matching or surface finish quality.
As you add cuts, CutWize automatically generates optimised cutting patterns in real-time. It uses a multi-phase "First-Fit Decreasing" strategy that processes pinned cuts first, then fills needs using your offcuts, then available loose stock, and finally generates new full-length stock items only when necessary—all without you having to press any "run" button.
Cut & Track
Take the patterns to the saw. As you make each cut, check it off in the app. This gives you a real-time progress tracker, which is invaluable for larger teams or complex jobs.
When a pattern is complete, any remaining material that is long enough to be useful is automatically flagged as a new "Offcut" and added back to your inventory for the next job. The optimised patterns minimise waste and maximise your material yield. Cycle complete.
