Cutting Plan Settings — Complete Reference
Every CutWize cutting plan comes with 15+ configurable settings to match your exact workshop workflow. Here's what you can fine-tune.
Settings for All Material Types
Universal parameters available for Lengths, Rolls & Sheets.
Standard Sizes
Preset full-length, roll, or sheet dimensions for quick stock entry.
Cost per Unit
Cost per full length, roll, or sheet — used for automatic stocktake value calculations.
Blade Thickness / Kerf
Saw kerf or spacing allowance deducted per cut to ensure accurate fit.
End-of-Length Allowance
Buffer deducted from each rough end on full-length and available stock. Offcuts get no allowance since they're already measured.
Minimum Offcut Size
The smallest leftover piece worth keeping. Below this threshold, the remainder is classified as waste.
Stock Code
Your supplier's product code — printed on labels and shown in stocktake reports.
Supplier Name
Track which supplier provides each material type.
Stocktake Threshold %
Only stock items at or above this percentage of a full unit are counted in your stocktake inventory. Set to 50% to exclude small offcuts from the stocktake count.
Label Printing
Auto-print Dymo labels when cuts are completed or when offcuts are ready for storage.
Additional Settings for Rolls & Sheets
Advanced controls for complex 2D and continuous material routing.
Stack to Near Side or Far Side
Control whether cuts are aligned to the near edge or far edge of your cutting table.
Auto Cut Rotation
Allow cuts to be rotated 90°. Disable this for grain-matched timber, directional fabrics, or any material that must be cut in one orientation only.
Stagger Cutting
Align cuts so vertical cut lines pass straight through the material — required for guillotine or linear cutting machines.
Guillotine Cutting
Enforces continuous straight-through cutlines for machines that cannot plunge cut.
Optimize for Offcuts
Prioritize creating clean, rectangular offcuts that are easy to store and reuse, even if it uses slightly more material.
Genetic Algorithm
An advanced optimization method that tests thousands of cut arrangements to find the most efficient packing. Takes 1-3 seconds longer but can significantly reduce waste on complex jobs.
Pattern Overlays
Visualize material patterns directly on your cutting layout: Grooved/T-1-11 siding groove alignment, Woodgrain direction for plywood and veneer, and Security screen mesh patterns.
